As part of the Corolla's eleventh production cycle, the 2018 model year features a profile that is sleeker, sportier, and more aggressive than ever before. At the base level, the best-selling nameplate has bi-LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights (DRLs) to increase conspicuity, rear combination taillights, a piano-black grille accentuating the bold front fascia, and power side mirrors. On the LE and higher, heating ability is added on the side mirrors. And on the XLE, SE, and XSE, the Corolla's manufacturer introduces multi-LED headlights with LED accent lights, adds LED backup lights with the rear combination taillights, puts a power tilt-and-slide moonroof on top of the vehicle, and has the DRLs integrated into the bumper instead of the headlights. As the racing-style variants, the SE and XSE have turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors, as well as a gloss-black mesh-pattern grille on a sporty front fascia. Also, they join the LE Eco in getting a rear spoiler for a more aerodynamic performance. The L and LE Eco has 15-inch steel wheels, the LE has 16-inch steel ones, the XLE has 16-inch alloy wheels, and the SE and XSE get 17-inch alloy ones.

Interior

Over the years, the Corolla has grown from a subcompact ride to a midsize one. This model year comes with four doors for easy access to a cabin that contains two rows of seats for five people. Peak passenger space on the vehicle is 97.5 cubic feet, and trunk space is measured at 13 cubic feet. The rear bench-style seat can be folded flat to expand cargo volume from the trunk into the cabin, and front seating consists of a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat and a 4-way manually adjustable passenger seat. The fabric seat trim is slightly upgraded on the LE and LE Eco, and vinyl trim replaces the fabric on the XLE, SE, and XSE. Six-way power on the driver's seat, 4-way power on the front passenger seat, and front-seat heating capability are exclusive to the XLE.

For infotainment, the 2018 Toyota Corolla uses the Entune™ multimedia system, which included six-speaker audio, an AM/FM radio tuner, a single-disc CD player, Siri® Eyes Free voice recognition, and a 6.1-inch touchscreen display. Other standard comfort and convenience features include a 3.5-inch monochromatic multi-information display, Bluetooth® wireless technology, and a rearview camera. Go with the LE and above to upgrade the 3.5-inch monochromatic multi-information display to a larger, 4.2-inch color one. The LE and LE Eco get remote keyless entry. And the XLE, SE, XSE are upgraded with a 7-inch touchscreen, a complimentary three-month SiriusXM® satellite radio subscription, HD Radio™, and a smart key system with push-button engine start. Notably, you can choose between remote keyless entry and the smart key system on the SE depending on the type of transmission.

Mechanical/Powertrain

The 2018 Toyota Corolla is typically powered by a 1.8-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, which produces 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. However, the engine on the LE Eco is tweaked to produce 140 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque. Also, while the Corolla uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT), you can opt for a 6-speed manual transmission on the SE trim. Also, the CVT does have a Shift mode to simulate manual gear shifting. Fortified with stabilizer bars, the independent MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear suspension ensure that bumps on the road are absorbed. The vehicle's electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering produces a turning circle of 35.6 feet.
